The Podcast We Need But Don't Deserve
As Herb Brooks says in the film "Miracle": "All-star teams fail because they rely solely on the individual's talent. The Soviets [hockey team] win because they take that talent and use it inside a system that's designed for the betterment of the team. " And that's precisely what makes this podcast so special. Not only are Jeff (BryndenBFish) and Emmett (PoorQuentyn) "all-stars" in the ASOIAF fandom - luminaries, even - but they have managed to combine their two brilliant, thoughtful, creative, and generous minds into a weekly show that just WORKS. I've listened to groups of "experts" on otherr shows before, where their chemistry seems forced, they are always too agreeable or too antagonistic with each other, and the just feels cold and manufactured. Not so with BFish and PQ, whose individual talents still shine through, but in a collaborative, gracious-with-each-other way that makes the podcast somehow even better than the sum of its parts. Their analysis is crisp, their takes well-researched and interesting, their passion palapable, and their on-air chemistry only gets better with each episode. I'll take BFish and PQ any way I can get 'em - and this podcast is just what the doctor ordered for both myself and the fandom at large. -Matt from Davos' FingersRead full review »

More reviews of Not A Podcast ASOIAF Re-Read Podcast
Goes in depth into all the different elements of the story, characters, and George’s writing in ways I haven’t heard on any other podcast before. Also just found out that its Poor Quentin and not “Pork went in” as I’d been hearing it as for weeks.

I was worried this was a project that would flame out before it got to the good stuff (344 weeks!). I'm so happy to hear PQ and BBF not hold back, but instead discuss every single book in every single episode. That's the way to do it.Read full review »
