Excellent lecturer, unfortunate background noise
I thoroughly enjoyed this lecture, especially the professors references to other Renaissance plays. My only issue with the recording is the constant and completely inconsiderate coughing that one gentleman was rude enough to do over and over again, despite the fact that he knew the session was being recorded. Hopefully he missed the lecture on the Duchess of Malfi, which I plan to listen to shortly.

More reviews of Not Shakespeare
These are great lectures but the audience sound like they have TB. Painful and very distracting.

Well, it’s a tie between this one and her Shakespeare ones.

Have been listening to both this class and the class on approaching Shakespeare. I enjoy the courses given by Dr. Smith to no end. It is a good way to learn about authors and or themes that were popular in Elizabethan and Jacobean England. Have heard it repeatedly, it entertains me to no end
