As a writer, I always learn something when I listen to Joshua Townshend and Adam Lesser of Notesonyournotes’s Podcast, and also when taking their writing courses. They talk about creating space physically, mentally and emotionally to create, and how to build artistic boundaries for yourself...Read full review »

I love Notes on Your Notes. Every week, there’s another gem about the creative process and storytelling. Whether I’m wanting to know how to deal with a fallow season in my creative life, how to write a compelling antagonist, or creating tension in a storyline, Joshua and Adam have the answers. Joshua & Adam, I love the conversational style of your podcast because the information naturally lands in a way that makes sense to the creative process - flowing, organic, fluent comparisons & contrasts. I appreciate so much that the creative process is paramount, rather than form &...Read full review »

Creative people so often don’t have the opportunity to simply talk about the nite and bolts of creativity and this helps fill that void. I know it’s a good podcast when I find myself wanting to chime into the dialogue and ask questions or give my penny’s worth.

I really get ton's out of these two. They're a perfectly matched duo. They both strike me as very different and at the same time their differences really deepen the conversation on process, and beinag a creative artist.Read full review »

Lots of deep thinking and compassion here for the artist! Really was helped by the Discipline episodes (Both short & long versions of Nov. 2017) - especially the idea that "simply" being self-aware is the basis of discipline. And I get insights on the culture du jour - like our...Read full review »

“Notes on Your Notes” breaks down the creative process in a way I haven’t heard before. It’s apparent to me the hosts have a lifetime of experience in this field to draw upon. I am looking forward to continuing to listen and will be passing it along to my entertainment industry oriented friends.

You can hear the genius of the two towards creating and performing art and feel their sincere love for those who aspire to practice it.

But authentic men, speaking from their heart, sharing their passion for and tips about art. Specifically writing and performing, but a lot of what they offer applies to many mediums. A sweet listen.

I love the depth and the heart of these interviewers - they risk asking challenging questions but also find the laughs and the heart in a playful and sacred way with their guests. I am inspired.

Adam and Joshua are like my best friends of decades---always reliable to have the Full Conversation. Funny, insightful and with a creative flow they engage the eternal questions of artists sharing their very smart reflections and perspectives. Worth listening to for sure!

Joshua and Adam have calm and soothing voices while sharing a wealth of information and ideas. Their voices seem to carry one off into a land of self discovery, while humerously playing with the many hidden and often dormant, secret aspects, of own's own self. The delightful, charming...Read full review »

I was struggling with writing about my rogue character Francesca, and the insight Adam and Joshua offered up on their podcast on the dark and light side of perfectionism was deeply insightful, very helpful - thanks guys.

Joshua and Adam really get into the heart of the matter when it comes to connecting actions and atmosphere to your character's reactions in "Emojis aren't Emotions". Their banter is just perfect to keep you engaged and not overwhelmed or hear too much blah-blah-blah. Coolest...Read full review »

A real podcasts with real creative people illuminating what brings them to, and what they receive (and we can receive) from the artistic process. Fantastic beginning! Sooo looking forward to the funny, deep, and inspiring episodes to come!

Three things I like: 1) It is an interesting conversation with practical advice without being preachy. It feels like we are on the journey with them as they figure it out 2) Their voices have a sensuousness that feels like I am back in my gimp days wearing a rubber suit leaving me all tingly in...Read full review »

It's really sweet to hear 2 guys, who have a relaxed, supportive and "deep" (they keep saying "deep") repartee with each other, equating creative projects with girlfriend relationships. Their voices are very soothing and listening to them spin off and then get back on point is...Read full review »

It's ambitious to think I might want to listen in on two friends ruminating about life. These guys are clever without trying to be. I like the sound of their voices but it's the ineffable chemistry of their friendship that is winning me over.Read full review »
