Steinar Halldorsson, from Iceland, joined the University of Oxford in 2013 after studying Biochemistry at University College London (UCL). We've asked Xi Li from China why he decided to do a DPhil project in the Nuffield Department of Medicine. In his final year as a Junior Doctor in China Xi saw a lot of cancer patients but there was only limited availability of clinical treatments. This experience motivated him to research HBV hepatocellular carcinoma. He likes the environment in the Department and enjoys the traditions associated with Oxford like punting.
