Description
Gentrification is defined as the process of renovating a housing district so that it harmonizes to the taste of the middle-class. In other words, it’s a complicated turf war. Gentrification not only impacts the housing/commercial market, but also the food of a particular location. Inevitably corner stores become extinct, full-fledged grocery stores pop up, and smoothie palaces, juice bars, and organic produce become a “thing”. In today’s podcast episode we discuss the positive and negative impacts of gentrification and what we can do as health practitioners to support neighborhoods that are experiencing this process.
