I unfortunately suffer from a few chronic conditions, so I’m a perfect candidate for the type of predatory marketing and practices that the wellness industry has been known to engage in. While the hosts admit that the current allopathic medical system needs improvement (while dispelling some myths like traditional medicine not treating the “root cause”), I’ve also been enjoying learning the reasons why things the way they are, and the amount of academic rigor that goes into establishing treatment guidelines. With the information in the podcast, I have saved literally thousands of dollars by leaving my functional medicine doctor and avoiding unnecessary and potentially dangerous alternative treatments that I sought out of desperation. I feel more empowered navigating the traditional medical system and hope that more people are able to use their resources towards medical reform rather than succumbing to modern day snake-oil salesmen.
