What a snoozefest! The podcast goes around in circles and repeats the same information from episode 1 to 6. Honestly, don’t waste your time. It feels exploitative of the victims.

The attraction of true crime is to understand the nature of evil. It is a blight on society that this murderer was given no opportunity to either defend or at least explain his actions, especially for the families of the victims. However, the listener can pick up enough to realise the man lacked...Read full review »

What a shame. Such an interesting story but it uses interviews from a who’s who of Ireland’s most inane “journalists” & gives voice—without adding comment or context—to the kind of people who say the accused was “off” or evil because he didn’t holler at convent school girls or play GAA....Read full review »

Sad and strange story about an unusual criminal and a cover up at the heart of it all. Great journalism. Awesome narrative with Adrian Dunbar. A huge fan. I’m from south side Dublin so this was a trip down memory lane which was nice. BBC podcasts never let me down.

I enjoyed learning about this story and the great narration. About 2/3 through the bonus episode the female journalist declared that this was not a true crime podcast. Hmm I’m not sure that’s accurate. She went further to decry true crime podcasts and those who listen to them. Did she understand...Read full review »

A compelling podcast, principally for its revelations about corruption in the Irish government and Judiciary, an ongoing problem. Deeply troubling is Fintan O’Toole’s suggestion that such killings likely would be perceived by the public as ‘banal and mundane’. Why did the Irish people not...Read full review »

As someone not Irish I find this podcast fascinating - very interesting topic and superbly made. Also - the music is really good.

As an Irish abroad, born in Cork 1970, I’ve listened to these and how enlightening this longer view of Irelands’ attitudes to sexuality has shaped the law and politics. Ireland today appears comparably utopian given such a shameful past. As ever the BBC has presented a well researched, fully...Read full review »

The story seemed interesting but the dialogue cannot be heard well.

Interesting story but you can’t listen past the 3rd episode unless you subscribe. Not compelling enough for me to do the dance of 7 days free and then cancel.

I’m a Radio4 fan and this is definitely a Radio5 documentary. It appears to be dumbed down to hold the interest of a tabloid audience like so many podcasts. 4 stars for effort and Adrian Dunbar
