Definently a good idea
Despite his claims of this being a bad idea I find the program charming and entertaining even though my interest in classic literature is nearly non existent. But my boys over at magic tavern suggested the program and I have it a listen. It’s charming and funny and his insight can be either deep or hilarious depending on his mood. My only problem is that the pacing of the show is buck wild. Ads seem to go wherever he is feeling they should go and sometimes the diatribes that aren’t the story overstay their welcome a touch. Every time I start getting into the story it comes to a halt so he can talk about mattresses or how his friends said this was a bad idea. The insights are welcome but the pacing of the interludes needs work. Otherwise it’s an excellent podcast and I’m glad to have had it suggested to me

More reviews of Obscure with Michael Ian Black
I listen to a ton of audiobooks, and would love if MIB could read them all to me. This is a great addition to my listening queue. There is no way I would have ever found “Jude the Obscure”, so I am happy to share learning this story with everyone else listening.

Full confession, I have read “Jude the Obscure” and while it’s not my favorite Hardy novel (yes, total dork, I have a favorite Hardy novel...”Return of the Native”), I did enjoy it. But it’s been years, so listening in and getting the commentary is a riot! Cannot wait until the next episode!

Michael Ian Black + literary classic+ stream of consciousness humorous riffing in a come what may manner = PERFECT summer podcast fun. I love the first two episodes and look forward to more❤️
