This is a terrific podcast with first-rate writing and narration. I’ve enjoyed every episode so far and I’m always looking forward to the next one. My only friendly recommendation is different music. The ‘80s Cassio is sort of shrill and at odds stylistically with the mood of the...Read full review »

Finding this show gave me context for the living of our times. I love it. The blurb at the end of this week’s episode was a beautiful expression of the one we rely on for this effortful gift. Fortunately I came late to the podcast, so I have lots to catch up on whilst waiting with bells on for...Read full review »

I really loved this pod. But lately something has kinda gnawed away, a slight feeling of irritation ensued. I couldn’t nail it till today. And then it hit .The delivery now seems to contain a pomposity which for me at least grates.A consequence of inhabiting the dreary spires? Still seems...Read full review »

Just discovered this, 3 episodes in, whilst looking for another historical podcast and I’m hooked. Presenter has a good voice, nice anecdotal evidence along with the historical information. Intrigued how it will unfold. Minor criticism, intake of breath can become distracting Overall early 5...Read full review »

Host tells us a story, and then relates it to scientific analysis of the Old Bones found in the British isles. Very few podcasts combine archaeology and story telling in this way.

I can’t believe this actually exists. I typed “Mesolithic” into search and was stunned to find a search result that’s well-written and thoroughly researched. It’s not just about old bones— it’s about stories. The past just sprawls out in technicolor under this guy’s hand. Please, keep making...Read full review »

Very detailed, easy to listen to (I’ll stop listening to a podcast if I don’t like the narrator’s voice - Andy’s voice is great) discussion of events really far back in Britain’s distant past. The delivery is warm and funny, and the information meticulously researched.

Well researched and intelligently spoken about topics regarding Early Man. I particularly loved the reconstructed story about a hunt - it really brought the past to life and gave me a great visual of what it must have been like. Looking forward to more of these.
