Episode 18: Anxiety and Raising an Only Child: Part Two
Listen now
Description
In the second half of a two-part episode series, we are discussing anxiety! This is something we got a pretty huge response about so we wanted to make sure to include as many emails as we could. We dive a little more into why the pandemic has caused Jess’s anxiety to worsen and what it feels like to have a child with pre-existing conditions. We also discuss the difference between being cautious and being overly paranoid and how that line can be very blurry, especially since there are still a lot of unknowns. As always, we want to remind everyone listening that their mental health matters and is important and it’s always OK to go to therapy. For us, it’s been extremely helpful. We read four messages all talking about parenting with anxiety and how different people came to the decision to be one and done because of it.In the pop culture segment we discuss a TV show that was cancelled WAY too early, Freaks and Geeks! Jess could probably do an entire podcast about this show - but today we are just discussing Bill, one of the “geeks”. He is an only child with health issues and a very severe allergy to peanuts. When he is exposed to them and subsequently hospitalized, his mom opens up about her anxiety as well as her feelings of guilt. You can now support us on Patreon!
