I lived in San Francisco for 14 years and I'm now on the East Coast. It's great to hear that. The vibes and thoughts are alive and well in the bay area! This podcast is so good. It's actually got me in the mood to start riding again. Great show… keep it correct! 🥳Read full review »

Annalee and Charlie are plugged in and well connected—their execution is excellent. The content they work with is fairly diverse, and they approach things from a well-informed vantage point. This podcast is one of several inspiring me to develop my own. Thank you both for an excellent...Read full review »

This podcast is giving me life every day. Just started listening (hosts were guests on another podcast) and started from the beginning. The hosts touch every kind of media I’m into and that I like. If I personally knew them we’d be best friends. I learn something amazing in every episode and am...Read full review »

This is a great show. I loved the episodes on Anne Rice, GoT, HP and the corruption of JKR, and story endings. The dynamic between the hosts is solid and compelling. The slap talk about how BSG ending and how disappointing it was is chef’s KISS. Thank you.

I only just discovered this podcast show a few weeks ago and have been binge listening the first ~ 90 episodes already. Charlie Jane and Annalee are the trans and queer adults I wish I had to look up to IRL. I love their fun, norm critical and deeply nerdy discussions about all sorts futuristic...Read full review »

Annalee Newitz and Charlie Jane Anders really delve deep into so many different aspects of writing - world building, tropes, gender in writing, and that’s just the beginning. One of my favorite episodes is where they spoke with Fonda Lee about how fight scenes should be used to change a character...Read full review »

The Anne Rice episode was really well-researched and interesting. I didn’t know much about Anne Rice before listening to the episode, but now I’m going to watch the Interview with a vampire TV show immediately :)

This is my favorite podcast. I went back and binged every episode from the beginning. I’ve been fascinated by sci-fi and fantasy my whole life. I love the hosts, guests, and topics! I grew up reading scifi and fantasy but never had the lens to look at the themes and tie it all back to the world I live in (at least until I get my own spaceship). The hosts are thoughtful and widely read, and they have a genuine love for the topic that...Read full review »

Fun yet incisive, the hosts lay out how and why sci-fi and fantasy stories work the way they do. So thoughtful and inclusive and well worth a listen!

OOAC is a consistent bright spot in these dreary times. Listening to their discussions is like hanging with the most fun, cheerful, cheeky, unapologetically geeky smartypantses—but without having to do the awkward and exhausting work of socializing yourself! After 15 episodes, I’m quite tired of the interruptions and clumsy takes on trans issues from the cis host. Also, this show handles spoilers just terribly. Anyway, Charlie is great and the show is generally smart but it’s not quite good enough as a whole for me to keep listening.

I’ve been listening to this on my daily commute to and from work, and often not just on my commute. I am in love with this podcast. Anders and Newitz are witty, thoughtful, and very engaging. You feel like you could be a part of the conversation, and I take so much away from every episode.

I have to give props to the incomparable LeVar Burton who introduced me to Our Opinions Are Correct through his LIVE Reading of Charlie Jane Anders’ brilliant short story “As Good As New.” I’ll be binging until I’m caught up and will keep an ear out for new releases!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always dreamed of being a hangers-on at the Algonquin Round Table or the Bloomsbury Group or one of the early Sci Fi cons. I’ve been trying to find a Sci-fi podcast to extend my awareness and add to my read/watch list.
