Could listen for days
Patrick, I am not sure what word to use to describe a feeling of knowing and somehow feeling seen. The closest I can find is the word “simpatico” to describe what it is like listening to someone so open, kind, and authentic. Our stories are similar but not the same, yet, listening to your story felt like I was experiencing some sort of verbal déjà vu. Perhaps that was because all kids growing up in dysfunctional families share the similar feelings, which they only learn to identify and understand many years later and often, by chance. Finally, despite the serious nature of the story, I feel… lighter because my inner can see that there are others like me. There are others who understand. It feels like a long awaited… exhalation. Thank you, Patrick!

I found Patrick Teahan a few years ago in you tube, and now I’m so happy to have discovered his podcast. His personality is so soothing and relatable, and the material is very helpful.
