“Normal” reaction to trauma
Overall a very enjoyable listen. One concern- this is coming very late, but I am troubled by the pieces where the boys’ accounts of their reaction to witnessing the murders are then used as evidence that their story is false or made up. They each describe freezing and becoming speechless or unable to act as they witness the murders. The hosts state multiple times that a “normal” child would have screamed or tried to act, and if the boys did not do so, this is evidence of falsehood. In fact, when children find themselves experiencing a traumatic situation where they cannot escape, they frequently freeze. This is 100% a “normal” reaction under the circumstances. I wish that the hosts would have done a bit of research on this piece, as they brought it up more than once when casting doubt on the stories.

An incredibly moving story of the murders of two innocent people and the incompetent investigation in South America, the US and the UK.

This podcast series has had me gripped from the first listen. It was so very carefully told. Well done for all the brilliant research. All so sad and tragic.
