Unsure and unsettled
I am still not sure what to think of this podcast. The hosts are engaging, however I am still trying to determine if the content is balanced enough for me. Seems like Trudeau gets a lot of passes, unlike the other leaders...would be interesting for an analysis to be done. Appreciated the shout out to Harper at the end of the second podcast...though he wasn’t my favourite leader, I can recognize the he is a very thoughtful and humble individual who continues to get a lot of bad press. The topic of immigration is very dicey because it is value based. What do we unequivocally value as Canadians? At the very least, we need to acknowledge that women and men are equal, the abortion debate is settled, and that all people, regardless of sexual and gender preference should not be discriminated against. I don’t care what religion or cultural background people come from, if we want to live in Canada, we should have to adopt these values. It is shameful what is going on in Quebec and I believe it is happening because we aren’t clearly defining Canadian values under the guise that we are too afraid to ‘offend’ anyone. PS A segment on the energy industry and trans mountain would be welcome.

Honestly how can you talk about the electoral reform debate as if the opposition parties didn’t completely sewer the process? Cons wanted no change and NDP wanted pie-in-the-sky changes. If the Libs had made changes despite the opposition, they’d have been smeared as undemocratic.

One thing really distracts and turns me off: Rosemary Barton awkwardly laughs way too much about things that aren’t funny. I find it alienating as a listener. I don’t know why she does it, and I get if...Read full review »
