Description
Emil Kristoffer Lie, a Norwegian professional, shares his background, experiences, and career journey in a conversation with Paul Lanigan. Emil grew up in a rural town in Norway but had a multinational background due to his family’s international connections. He had a strong desire to explore the world and studied abroad in the US as an exchange student. Emil’s early adventures included working as a pundit in a local newspaper’s horse racing column and traveling to the US alone at the age of 17. These experiences shaped his curiosity, storytelling skills, and ability to adapt to new situations. Emil Kristoffer Lie discusses his journey from being a support agent to a people manager and the challenges he faced in transitioning to a leadership role. He emphasizes the importance of creating the right environment for teams to perform and the value of trust and psychological safety. Emil also shares the two people who have inspired him, his grandfather and the founder of Headspace, and the satisfaction he finds in his work and personal life. He highlights the need for education on wellness and energy management, as well as financial literacy. If he were marooned on a desert island, he would bring a guitar or cello to entertain himself, and in the event of a fire, he would prioritize the safety of his loved ones over material possessions. Emil envisions a book about his life titled ’Explorer’ to reflect his mindset of growth and seeking out adventures.
