“Okay I’ve watch Dr P for years
And I always Loved everything about Shaquille
However after this podcast!!
Oh my gosh they became REAL PEOPLE, both gentlemen were finally humanized and real to me.
I have a 10 year old grandson; his mama & he live with me right now.
At the end of the school year last year, I learned my grandson had been spending the first five years of school sitting ALONE at lunch time bc kids wouldn’t sit or friend him and he simply was too embarrassed to ever tell us about it. And NEVER had his teachers share this info with us.
He has a weight problem, a speech impediment and he had, in the past hurt the other kids while playing during recess or gym, not deliberately, but due to his size as he’s ALWAYS been very tall and big for his size. We get second looks and questioned repeatedly bc of his size in relation to his age.
We put him in football and he loves it and plays well. <go Lafayette Swampcats> But his football life and school life don’t merge, so it was a lonely Monday Thru Friday For that kid to where he began to HATE school and cut up.
It broke my heart when he found out he would be going to a new school this year and he cane out and asked me what it would take for him to be ‘cool’ so that kids would play and eat lunch with him as for the last Five YEARS he’d been made fun of and isolated and ignored.
He started a new school this year and thank GOD IS EXCELLING and talks about his friends and projects in school and a desire for involvement in extra curricular activities.
So today I finally decide to listen to Dr Phil on Podcast.
The entire Shaq interview I had such an urgency to get home so Izra could hear this story about Shaq
I want him to listen to this podcast and feel a connection to someone like Shaq and what he went thru but more importantly took and learned from...
Because I want Izra ( my grandson) to understand that Shaq wasn’t Always SHAQ
And For him to continue focusing on what is ahead of him not so much in where kids and people have put him before
REAL INTERESTING PEOPLE
Yay for Podcast
