“The language and narrative used to describe the ‘relationship’ 16 year old Phoebe had with a teacher is horrible. It then goes on to describe some strange idea that this poor young woman had ‘powers’ over older men. I was shocked listening to this. It was classic victim blaming and showed the journalists had done absolutely no research in exploring issues around family/domestic power dynamics. Gross.
The actual ‘story’ about her death is superficial and gutless. What a missed opportunity to tell an important story.”
