Description
After 23 years in the game, I still feel like I’ve got a lot to learn. But over those years, I feel like I’ve accrued a lot of experience – both in training, and in life. So if you’re looking to level up as a trainer or coach, this episode is for you! Here, we’re going to cover 9 pieces of advice I would give to any up-and-coming coach who wants to continue to grow and evolve. And last but not least, the title is “up and coming” coaches versus “young coaches” – because I don’t consider myself a young coach, but that doesn’t mean I’m not trying to get better every single time I’m in the gym!   If you can get really great at coaching the average gen pop client, you’re going to absolutely CRUSH IT when you start training higher level athletes. – MR   This Week on the Physical Prep Podcast: * Why you’ve got to find a balance between outcome and process-based goals. * How process based goals keep you engaged when the outcomes aren’t falling into place. * The value of getting the reps in, and how you can’t fast-track the experiences necessary to be great. * Why mentors are such a critical piece of the puzzle, and how to find people who will support your growth and evolution. * Advice for building relationships and connections with every client you coach. * My naïveté as a young coach, and how humbling myself was one of the best things I ever did in my career. * Why you should make it a goal to train EVERYONE possible early-on in your career. * Reflections on arguably the most impactful moments in my career, and why they forged my growth as a coach. * The 10% Rule for Continuing Education. * A simple question to marinate on: Are you IN? Or are you OUT? * Why one of your personal goals should always be to give back and grow the next generation of great coaches.     Stop the Frustration!
