Only here for the Hilton
It's an odd "cinematic TV" podcast. Dyer (the host) and Hilton are highly TV literate. While Hilton is omnivorous (and great!), Dyer has red lines for things he doesn't like (and hence somewhat childishly avoids) like animation, "cringe" and certain types of challenging content (including "ITV dramas"). Often when that's brought up, Dyer uses his podium to powermanguffaw over the criticism and we move on (occasionally we get treated to some sci-fi/fantasy monologue to fill air and be reminded of who wears the demagogue pants). The third host's (Ribeiro) main interest appears to be highly localised and specialist (UK reality TV), so thats what she's always watched "last week". The show gets particularly tiresome when discussion/review of landmark huge shows like Masters of the Air get promoted to their subscription only service (Pilot plus) and the rest of us have to listen to what's happened recently on the current UK reality show du jour "pottery love celebrity cake traitor island get me out of here throwdown" instead. No wonder its ratings are tanking in Fiji.Read full review »
