Fantastic narration, top notch delivery of this ancient classic. In my opinion this is of a superior quality than similar premium audiobooks. Highly recommended!

Dont know what davloos joke is, or what download he was listening to, but this is the internet at its very best. Someone who loves something putting a HUGE amount of effort and talent into a task, and then sharing it. Read the book along with the excellent reading (you really will think there...Read full review »

... for the knowledge.

Love everything about this narration! The voice and pacing are excellent and of course the content itself very meaningful and thought provoking. Remember! The unexamined life is not worth living! A must listen for anyone who thinks about life.

Superbly read, brings the conversation of the Republic to life. With listen to many times over I'm sure!

Each time you attempt to listen to any section of this podcast there is first played an ad for some raunchy video game using the voice of a tough guy street hustler which completely shatters the listener's mood. I couldn't stand it and you wouldn't either! What are these folks thinking, drinking...Read full review »

i appreciate the joke going on, but carnt be botherd as its not really that funny. the whole things read by some cheap computer voice and is unbearable, waste of time.

As an undergraduate Politics and IR student, I've found this podcast to be indispensable! The book is read with such passion and vigour, it amazes me that it was released for free. The reader clearly has a great love for the book, and this is evidenced by the skill he shows in drawing out all of...Read full review »

Don't get me wrong, I have alot of respect for a man who narrates this huge book, sticks it on itunes, and doesn't even charge customers $0.99 for it. Thats dedication. However, what really annoys me about all of these audio books on Plato's republic is that none of them state the author or...Read full review »

I am truly grateful to have access to this material. The fact that iTunes provides access to Plato's Republic, and especially such a rich and nuanced reading, is wonderful to me. I can only hope that other classical works become available in time!

This is a quality audiobook of the complete 'Republic' by Plato. It's amazing that this book is freely available as the quality of narration is truely outstanding.Read full review »

Except for Book I, the podcast titles don't match the text. I don't know what version of The Republic he's reading, because there are only ten books (not eleven) in every edition I've seen. This makes it very difficult to coordinate the audio with the text. Not useful to me.

I first read about half of this book several years ago and loved it. I always wanted to finish it. I've been getting into audiobooks lately, but I haven't seen an unabridged audiobook version. This podcast is an amazing find. The reader has an EXTREMELY annoying voice, but you start to get...Read full review »

Both the content of the podcast and the narrator's voice are wonderful!

Patrick Corgan makes the meaning Plato's Republic easy to understand in this wonderful narration, proving his indepth grasp of the philosophy of Socrates. What a wonderful gift he gives the listener on a usually difficult subject. You will want to listen to this one over and over.

If you judge an audiobook by the quality of the reading then this gets 5 stars. If you judge it by the quality of the book, 5 stars again. If you judge it by a combination of the two... you get the idea. Though it's a one man show you'll know which character's talking just by convincing yet...Read full review »

This perfect as a refresher to those familiar with plato and as a full introduction for those who want to gain some understanding of some of the most influential ideas in western philosophy.

This is one of those works that would take me a year to finish in print. It is well read and if you are not familiar with it then you owe it to yourself to experience. You won't believe how far we haven't come as a society. Nothing has changed really. Brilliant knowledge!

Everyone should read/listen to this. Plato's Cave is a basic lesson that 99% of the population don't know about or comprehend, which allows the remaining 1% to control the planet. Listen to this. See the light (the real light).

Immensely enjoyed listening to this podcast reading of Plato's The Republic - I seem to have made off with more of an understanding of the material after a couple days listening than in an entire semester long introductory philosophy course at college. This guy should be payed for a service like...Read full review »
