“I finally tried mixing Minor and Major Pentatonic scales and I feel like I entered a new universe of improvising. I had been spending a lot of time trying to master the minor pentatonic patterns and got pretty good at it and was having a lot of fun improvising over backing tracks. But like Lee said would happen, I started to feel “boxed in”. I remembered listening to episode 50 and thinking it would be way to complicated for me to mix the scales. But I went back and listened to it and decided to give it a shot. I hadn’t really spent a lot of time learning Major scale patterns, so what I ended up doing was treating the G major pentatonic as an E minor pentatonic(relative minor to G Major) and combined it with the G minor pentatonic. It eventually started to become easier to play both together and mix them up and I now feel like I made a giant leap in my guitar playing and I’m having so much fun with it.
Thanks Lee! Great podcast. I’ve learned so much from it and am constantly inspired by your encouragement.
