Starmer
Interesting episodes. One thought - he’s certainly changed his mind (or flip flopped?), but in 2019 if he thought he might one day be PM, he must have imagined there’d be a bit of cash for policies to go with it. A year, even 9 months ago he might have hoped the treasury would have a few billion knocking around. Not now, and he must know it’s only going to get worse. And to get elected he has to show he’ll manage this lack of money. Some of those original 10 pledges will be back, perhaps in a 2nd term.

Fascinating if depressing take on the history of pandemics ultimately concluding with Hegel: ‘We learn from history that we do not learn from history’. I agree the music needs to change....

Thoroughly enjoyed this podcast from the excellent Jack Blanchard. Not since university have I felt so interested in ancient history, delivered with academic background but in an accessible way. So surprising just how many parallels there are with the present day.. More please!
