“......to a huge variety of bees I never knew existed. After listening to the recent episode on Squash bees, e.g., I went out to my garden at the crack of dawn and found exactly what the interviewee described--small honeybee-sized male Squash bees frantically darting about looking for love. Unlike some other bees, they were too fast to photograph well, but at one point a female entered the blossom and within seconds three males squash bees darted in. Earlier this summer, I stood by a large stand of kale that I had let go to blossom (to collect later for sprouting) and, just as predicted in another interview, saw tiny luminescent green bees. Learning about these critical insect neighbors just makes gardening all that more enjoyable and strengthens the view that we're all in this together.
The sound quality and level of expertise of this podcast make it stand out. I am very grateful for the generosity of Dr. Andony Melathopoulos and the many scientists and educators he interviews.”Read full review »
