The waterfront along the Port of San Diego's North Embarcadero is changing. Construction of a 105-foot wide public promenade is getting underway, now that traffic lanes have been moved to the east, as part of the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan. The Port hosted a public event to mark the milestone in Phase 1 of the construction project. "NEVP" will also contain public gardens, shade pavilions, new landscaping and other amenities. Phase 1 is due to be completed in the summer of 2014.

With thunderous booms, the monstrous South Bay Power Plant crumbled into history, following a successful implosion along the Chula Vista bayfront on the morning of Saturday, February 2, 2013. For the first time since the late 1950's, Chula Vista has an open view to South San Diego Bay.
