Bleah
This show seems like it was written by a robot that has been fed loads of information about this alien genre of "humor." There's parody, snark, sarcasm, faux naivety, faux gravitas...but it fails to be anything more than grating and stilted. It's snark without wit, parody without joy. This is clearly an attempt to appeal to younger NPR listeners, but I can't imagine anyone but bitter 40-somethings listening this. Please take it off the radio; it's so unpleasant and demoralizing to come home from work just to hear Faith Saley and her various reporters mean-spiritedly mock people. From the 10/16/07 episode: a pen formerly owned by Saddam Hussein can be filled with ink or "with the tears of Iraqi children." Really? You think that's funny? Then you'll love this show.Read full review »
