Well done Sam Steiner (17th July episode) for shutting up Brian Beutler for a minute or two! Please, can someone tell Beutler not to talk so much and let his guests get a word in. Otherwise, good, progressive discussions on Washington policy and politics (happily more policy than politics).

Brian brings in knowledgeable guests and is concise in his questions to clarify the ongoing craziness in politics. Highly recommended! Lars

Presents the basic convential wisdom for the given topics, with the same stale figures that peddle familiar rhetoric. Not exactly novel in the discussion space, or offering something that could not be readily absorbed through MSNBC.

Perhaps not as flashy as the "Pod saves the world" family of podcasts but for astute political analysis this one is hard to top. You should also be reading Brian at New Republic, an essential voice in these surreal times!

Clear presentation - not hysterical.

Primary Concerns is my favorite political podcast, and I listen to quite a few. The New Republic is worth a subscription as well!

If you enjoy his writing you will love Brian's podcast. Extremely insightful, thought provoking and serious yet with a good mix lighthearted banter with his guests that helps keep things entertaining.

Totally enjoyed discussion on this week's episode, "Making Sense of the Hot Mess on Capitol Hill," and I learned a lot. Being a political junkie for at least fifty years, I do not often hear things I hadn't thought about before. But this conversation was fresh, intelligent and informed. Kudos.

It's an interesting show. A little too liberal at times, but I always enjoy hearing the viewpoint.

Beutler has taken it (understandably) hard since Trump one, but is getting his legs back under him recently and seems back in his usually sharp, fighting shape.

Great questions; thoughtful answers. Best political podcast going with consistently great guests.

I have been a fan of Brian Beutler since I first started reading his work on Talking Points Memo more than eight years ago. He is inciteful, witty, and values critical assessment. If you're a political wonk, you must download and listen to this show.

Beutler is phenomenal. Cogent, thoughtful. Essential, especially now.

I really appreciate this podcast because, more than just about any other political podcast I've listened to, I come away feeling so much more informed about a given issue than before I started.

Not sure if this is supposed to be political comedy or political talk? But I hope it's neither one because it fails miserably in both categories. Every podcast stars somewhat normal but spins quickly out of control into discussions between conspiracy theory believers. These guys are clearly out...Read full review »

I really appreciate conservatives and progressives debating the issues from a position of respect for each other and the validity of each other’s positions. Thanks again!!

Just putting it out there that I would pay money for a Brian Beutler podcast after the election is over. I've been following his work since his days at TPM and consider him to be one of the best political analysts in the game.
P_Gee_07 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 10/16/16
This is the most insightful, honest, and thoughtful discussion of American politics today. Brian Beutler invites top political analysts and journalist to present a diverse set of views in an engaging conversation that is both accessible and informative.

In this ridiculous current political climate, Primary Concerns is the first place I turn for honest, insightful, thoughtful, fair coverage and commentary.

I am new to this podcast and loving it. If you are looking for a more analytical, in-depth look at what is going on in this election this is the pod for you. Goes beyond the surface level, day-to-day take on the election, instead looking for underlying causes, trends, and whether there is...Read full review »

Not only is this podcast wonderful, The New Republic is killing it in stellar articles online. Non-beltway progressive media is killing it in this election in general.

This is, by far, the best political podcast that I have found. Diverse views and guests, interesting questions, and good follow up and dialogue. Check it out.

Super left pandering and Hillary doting. I'm a centrist/independent looking for valuable coverage and it is nowhere to be found here. Terrible.
smstew via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/09/16
Super-fair, with liberal and right-wing views addressed. Brian B is a terrific host. Not your average lightweight discussion show. Revealing, thought-provoking, superb. Love it.
Sramsram via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 09/09/16
A political podcast that doesn't just rehash the week's news, but has guests on to dig deep on really interesting larger questions raised in the campaign. Case in point was fascinating Aug 24 discussion on ramifications of trump on republican strategy going forward to repair the party

Cenetered around the now-present 2016 presidential election, there has been plenty of grist for the mill. The host does a great job, but he and the show have done a very good job of getting interesting guests. New Republic has a progressive publication, but even if you are of a more centrist or...Read full review »

I read and listen and discuss politics routinely. I have followed Brian Beutler's writing since his days at TPM. I like this podcast very much for its conversation politics with better insight than most and representation from both sides of the aisle. Well done.

Pure propaganda. Analysis barely scratches the surface. If you're the type of person who thinks Bernie Sanders supporters will vote for Trump you deserve this podcast. Good for a laugh though.

The best political podcast around. Beutler is thoughtful and incisive. Guest are always great. Please do the leftwing v. rightwing conspiracy culture episode.

Easily the best analysis pod on 2016. Fluent, insightful, and the best 'inside baseball' around.
Brick McBrick via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 06/09/16
As informed as Slate, Vox or 538, but less smug about it. Treats both Sanders & Clinton camps with the respect they deserve, and Trump with the contempt he does.
TedFriedman via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/26/16
This is a wonderful podcast, unpacking the issues around the primary. Though I identify as a progressive, I really appreciate the respectful discussions with the Republicans. I find it really nice to hear “adult” conversations about these matters.
