This setting - deep sea! ancient sea creatures! scientists! - is so exactly the kind of thing I love, but wow are the characters childish.
The rousing feminist speech against a misogynist strawman? Ugh. Workplace misogyny is subtle and insidious. Why include sexual harassment at all if it’s going to be simplified down to such a level? And why on earth are two professionals of different ranks sleeping together?
Character design doesn’t ring true. No matter how fun the setting, character cringiness kills it for me.”
