“I didn't appreciate their dismissive and ill-informed 6-13-2012 discussion of Subutai Corp's (Neal Stephenson) plans for a sword-fighting game called CLANG. I'm sure everything else they've done is awesome. Really.
Stephenson is not some random celebrity who is lending his name to a game startup project. He's been involved in IRL sword fighting activities (don't know the technical term for what he's been up to) and researching and writing about the near-forgotten history of martial arts in Medieval Europe. It's safe to say he and his team know more about that topic than anyone currently active in game development. Their startup funds will go toward hiring proper game developing talent who can (hopefully) make their ideas work.
Whether you liked his books or not, Stephenson's literary ideas have shaped MMORPGs (and made sport of them) as well as handheld device usage, online currency, and even Google Earth. He's qualified to lead an initiative like this, provided he can retain enough programmer talent.
Subutai has known about the feedback issue since the beginning, btw. Admittedly I have no idea if they can actually resolve it.”
