“I’ve listened to a few episodes, spread throughout the timeframe in which this show has aired, and I cannot strongly enough urge people to run from this. Wherever you land on LGBT issues, Christians ought to reject biblical interpretation that makes every scripture into a metaphor for or an allusion to your own life. The Bible is for us, but not about us—it is about Jesus (Matthew 5:17; Luke 24:26-27; John 5:39, 45-47).
Think of someone like Steven Furtick—who makes every biblical text into a metaphor about you reaching your potential—as an LGBT activist. Now every verse is about the struggle for equality. That is not how exegesis works.
But the worst is the hosts’ view of Christ. They clearly do not think of Him as God, as sinless, or as interested in saving us from sin. The most recent evidence of this (as of this writing) is their episode from 9/3/18 on Mark 7. There was a statement made about Jesus in that episode that was so brazen, so blasphemous, that I cannot type it, and certainly could not finish listening. You CANNOT be a Christian and say something like that.
Again: RUN.”
