Supports a true revival of the art ...
Though radio drama never really died, even in America, it was suddenly so overwhelmed by the novelty of television and by panicked AM/FM station managers/owners obsessed with "Format issues" that, as an art and literary form, it suffered a virtual demise in this country. Four years ago Fred Greenhalgh of Radio Drama Revival (RDR), a staunch audio drama advocate, personally determined that enough was enough! He began a quest to bring back to the airwaves (and Internet podcast "waves") independently produced audio drama with contemporary stories and themes that both strongly reflected Golden Age of Radio values and the updated quality achievable using leading edge audio recording and editing tools and techniques. My ears know that RDR maintains a very high standard of consistent quality in all aspects of its podcasts. However, the Internet being what it is, others may not always be able to hear these programs with the same high fidelity as I do in my home. The best bet, always, is, "Listen and decide for yourself." I wager most new listeners will pick out quickly that RDR is the top audio content site when Googling "radio drama" for solid reasons apart from SEO cleverness, reasons that made Captain Radio both a fan and fellow crusader in Fred's cause.Read full review »
