gimmicky and overproduced
A case of how the hosts and excessive editing can get in the way of the material. The stories are compelling: "Zoos" was a fine example. But the needless audio effects and the incessant banter of the hosts (as if Click and Clack took over This American Life-- I shudder to think) takes away from the experience. Its just not worth having to wade through the dumbed-down presentation to get to the nuggets of good content.Read full review »

The subject matter is fascinating and the way the show is edited together makes it positively hypnotic to listen to. This is a fine example of how to use the power of radio to its ultimate effect.
