I love this series, it’s an amazing way of learning about history through the lens of dictatorships and personality cults. Just curious why they’ve had a picture of Fidel Castro on the banner since the start, but not managed to provide an episode on him being a dictator?

The Great Dictators podcast is my go to podcast when I’m working out at the gym. What I like about it is the great research and script writing but most importantly the straightforward and excellent narration by seasoned British actor Paul McGann whose voice is easy to listen to. I would rate The...Read full review »

I love this show and I think one of the next dictators should be Assad since he is still in power People who call this show left winged baffle me because this show covers dictators in a more historical context. This show has fantastic intros for dictators and the detail on their lives and...Read full review »

After listening to almost all of the episodes, it’s so clear that this is a very left-leaning podcast.

I listened to the episodes about Joseph Stalin February 2022. It literally hit me so hard and changed my life. I’ve become quite interested in his life, and I’ve even read his mother’s (Keke Geladze) small book, and I’m reading a book now called “Young Stalin.” Stalin defied odds at all...Read full review »

Thought I knew lots about the dictators but this series went so much further and sadly emphasises that evil keeps returning so series like this show how from humble beginnings evil can flourish

Honestly one of the best history podcasts you’re going to listen to! Production is great, the guests and speakers are top level and the story presentation really draws you in.

Paul McGan’s narration can make a chill run down my spine with how well he tells some of these stories. Writing is 10/10

This is a five-star podcast. Excellent all the way around. Nothing else needs to be said it stands on its own with five stars. Hoxha episode is excellent and an education in itself

This is isn’t directly about the show, but people have been commenting about adding Justin Trudeau as a dictator, if you add him to the show I will unfollow, because you wouldn’t have anything to write about, I’m not trying to defend Justin Trudeau, I want the Green Party to win, but at least...Read full review »

Love the show, the detail, the music and narration I look forward to every episode. But the constant extended breaks are super frustrating especially when shorter sagas are sandwiched between two long breaks. I know it takes time for production but definitely can irk me as a fan. Either way keep...Read full review »

I listened to the Stalin episodes. This podcast definitely obscures more than it actually reveals - it’s a tremendous piece of propaganda masquerading as objective history. I gave it two stars because it was very entertaining to listen to with all it’s over the top editorializing and wild...Read full review »

It appears the show uses “ right wing “ so much more often vs “ left wing “ . I suggest the show should use more historical terms instead of the current political terms which make one question the objective views of the shows. We all need to understand it’s the history we are talking about, not...Read full review »

The person calling this podcast radical leftism is definitely someone who is in favor of autocracy or someone similar, since this podcast simply tells history facts and occasionally rebukes war crimes and despots. Some people hate education

Real dictators is so well researched and so well presented by Paul McCann with his fantastic voice for narration. The only small criticism I have is that not all episodes aren’t grouped together. This podcast is full left-wing crazy and never stops relating the stories to current politics. Left-wing politics guide the show and alter history to match current left-wing propaganda.
Tmchief77 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/22/23
Such a great podcast, but I don’t understand why everyone is saying it’s now a ‘Hitler podcast’. Hitler was undeniably the most evil person in human history, so don’t you think it would make sense to do an in depth dive into his life? I know I do.

This might be the best history podcast out there. The research is thorough and production quality is high. Brilliant! All the jigsaw pieces of Hitler’s unlikely rise to power are described with panache and inputs from experts. Eerily, there are so many parallels to the rise and rise of a current day demagogue who threatens, yet again, to overthrow democracy.

Love the podcast! The story telling is next level and the research is detailed. I just have one suggestion to improve the overall experience : please don’t take breaks from an ongoing series and release other series in the meanwhile.
