I rarely review podcasts but if the ABC is going to lie for clicks about aliens, then it deserves zero stars. Their recent report on alien conspiracy theories treats the whole thing as though it’s real; not an ounce of journalistic credibility to be had. It’s not just the journalist but the...Read full review »

Could you please remove the monotonous background intro music. It’s so annoying. Thanks Chas

Rear Vision is one of my favourite podcasts. The episodes are really fascinating, covering great topics that explain the history and context of a lot of everyday issues.

Why? Because it is analytical, clearly evidence-based and presented in a non-theatrical manner. I have stopped listening to a lot of other ABC programs over the last three years. I am interested in social justice, based upon universal inclusivity and a fair go- the essence of a civilised...Read full review »

I’m fed up with the constant aboriginal guilt. Australia is going to be apologising for the next 5000 years. Put something interesting on. Climate perhaps, the economy or the Asia/Pacific issues.

I always learn something from every episode. A jewel in the RN crown.

Used to be an excellent podcast and still sometimes is but increasingly displaying a woke sanctimoniousness and no longer a relatively agenda-free genuine attempt to provide insights about, and background to, current events and issues.

Good to understand the lost opportunity after the fall of the Berlin wall and missing or misleading leadership of the western democracies. Now what global citizens need is solidarity in standing up for peace. “We are all Ukrainians”!

So very informative which helps me understand how and why.

‘Great opportunity for corruption’ is the slogan for Northern Territory senior-middle public sector incl politicians - no consequences for corruption up here. Why is no one investigating the secret deal to lease Darwin Port to China?

Good program on CCS . The telling part for me was the statement the CCS and clean coal are technologies that are being pursued to maintain the dying oil/gas, coal industries in face of the increasingly cheaper renewables for power generation

I’ve been subscribed to a few ABC podcasts for long time now but I’ve had it with new episodes sitting first in my app for days, ahead of newer episodes of other shows because the ABC loads them with a future date. It’s dodgy and frustrating and it only happens with ABC shows on my feed. Just...Read full review »

Entertaining and well researched. Always fascinating, and particularly good at drawing the line between past events and today’s world

To explore the history of the West’s re-engagement with China from 1972 is a lateral and insightful angle on today’s largest diplomatic conundrum. Well planned and well done, right down to the eerie recording of Mao proclaiming the PRC in 1949.

Never a bad episode. You always learn things, even on subjects that you thought you knew something about.

A good collection of diverse topics covered by this podcast but please stamp out the uptalking by the hosts and especially the guests! Why is everything a question? It is heinously obnoxious to my ears? Please fix this? And thank you? Keep up the good work?

Content is amazing but astounding that the audio quality and voicing is so poor. It’s 2020 and Podcasting has moved on but the ABC remains firmly in the times most current staff started their careers there 1980... time to move forward?

Superb podcast delving into the history behind some topics in the headlines. I’ve been listening for years - it’s the only one I always listen to. Always interesting, it’s seriously the one podcast you shouldn’t miss.

Beautifully researched and succinct context reviews for all the current issues. The episodes always manage to surprise you with unknown facts and connections. They really explain why we are how we are and where we are in the present based on the past. I love it.

The series about Aboriginal culture played over the summer is sensational. Every school child and politician should listen to these. I particularly liked the podcast on the first encounters of aboriginal people with the first fleet. There was so much I sadly didn’t know about this.

Whilst this brief analysis is pretty accurate and covers much of the complex story in a succinct fashion it misses one big point. Toward the end, the commentary wonders why all this cheap money has not led to productive investment in the “real” economy, new production, factories, manufacturing,...Read full review »
