“I just discovered this podcast recently, and find it so refreshing and helpful. I've already listened to nearly all of them in the past 2 days, and I am very hopeful that the will be lots more to come. Janet gives parents the encouragement that our kids are "complimenting" our parenting in their own way, when they are comfortable enough in our love and acceptance to show us their negative emotions. They are getting real with us, and we don't need to distract them from expressing their real selves and emotions to us. I love the reminders that we are having a relationship with our children, and are the first and most influential models of what it is like to be in relationships. I value the reminders that I can be the "bigger" person when my daughter is melting down - and it is so easy to hear that reminder coming from Janet, because she acknowledges that acceptance might not be my (or anyone's) knee-jerk response to a screaming toddler, but I'm big and I can do it for my daughter and for our relationship. And I don't just like Janet's message, I also like her down-to-earth delivery. A very pleasant companion in my ears, as I do my podcast-friendly chores. I've already recommended this podcast to two friends, and we are exploring starting a mini play group to practice responding to our children in ways we learn on this podcast. In fact, it would be really helpful if one episode could provide coaching on how a to do a playgroup to practice - things parents should do before playgroup to prepare, and what should go on during. I can't convey how delighted I am to find this podcast, and excited to practice interacting with my daughter in this more authentic, supportive way.”Read full review »
