“Hi - I was a massive fan of the older incarnations of Retronauts. For me, one of your high points was the fantastic Chrono Trigger episode way back when. The way you discussed something so seminal, bringing new info to light, diffusing incorrect legends, and sharing your take on why the game was so important - it was insightful and compelling.
When you guys talk about something you love, or something you hate, you're interesting. When there's passion, I want to hear what you say.
But the first four entries in Vol 3 are simply you guys discussing things you are knowledgeable about. There's no insight, nothing relatable, just a lengthy recital of facts filtered through arms-length opinion. You tell it like it is... but not how you want it to be or how you wish things could have been. It feels like you're playing it safe, which seems odd considering the lack of a parent company to keep tabs on you.
So, please, find your spark again. Find something to talk about that means something to you all personally and it will make for the engaging podcast I expected from the Retronauts team, and one that I will hope for in future instalments.”Read full review »
