Trip of a Lifetime, Even From Home
Though I have never been to Italy (not yet, anyway), Rick has given me an extraordinary guided tour. I have listened to these episodes dozens of times, followed along in art books (and now with the Google Art Project), and as a result feel as though I've actually stood in the Uffizi before the works of Botticelli or beneath the Sistine ceiling. Rick (and his not-to-be-forgotten co-author, Gene Openshaw) have an incredible gift for distilling the critical insights from the art history books and presenting them with warmth, charm, humility and humor. I find my understanding greatly enhanced and thus my life far richer for the experience. And Lisa Brown's personality adds an extra sparkle that makes me smile every time. If you could take one thing with you on your trip, this would be the thing (the 2nd being Rick's "Europe 101"). And you need a vacation while sitting in traffic, it doesn't get better than this on the radio. Thanks to Rick, Gene and Lisa for their hard work and generosity!

The St. Peter's tour was good, but just a drop in the bucket considering everything that is in the basilica. My only critique is that Rick came across as a bit anti-Catholic in the St. Peter's...Read full review »

Rick is perfect. Informative. Funny. Playful. Insightful. He makes it fun and interesting. He is a good story teller and I learned a lot. We played his audio when we were in The Sistine Chapel last year and it was sensational. He is the best.
