Description
Today I am talking with Maine native Kristen Seavy, who is an actress and a True Crime podcaster, the host of Murder She Told about her hometown Serial Killer James Rodney Hicks. Kristen covered this story on the first two episodes of her podcast, which I will link below. Support the show: Patreon.com/Julesandashley Here is Kristen's original episode description from murdershetold.com She entered The Gateway looking for love, and instead, she found him… It’s October 16th, 1982, in my hometown of Newport, Maine. But this is before my time. Jerilyn Towers goes to a local bar, The Gateway Lounge, for a drink... and never comes back. The bartender who was working that night said she remembered seeing Jerilyn there. And she wasn’t alone. She was approached by a man named James Hicks who flattered her and bought her drinks all night. They seemed to be laughing and having a great time. Around 1am, they left together. Newport Police Chief Jim Ricker goes to question Hicks, and he quickly realizes that Jerilyn may not be the only person who was last seen with this man, and that they both might not actually be missing... He learns that in 1977, Jennie Cyr, the former wife of James Hicks just... disappeared. She “ran off with a lover,” claimed Hicks. Ricker calls up the Cyr family, and they all have the same story: Jennie didn’t run off. Jennie was dead. And they knew exactly who was responsible... This is the story of James Hicks, the serial killer next door that you've never heard of, and the most sensational trial in Maine State history. Part One of The Deadly Web of James Hicks is available now on Murder, She Told wherever you get your favorite podcasts. Special thanks to Police Chief Jim Ricker for sharing his first-hand account.
