“Admittedly, Romeo and Juliet is far from my favorite of Shakespeare's plays, but the fact that the show is in a mix of English and Spanish caught my attention. This version is lovely, with fantastic production values all around. One benefit of using a story as well known as Romeo and Juliet is that even people who aren't totally familiar with all the nuances know the general story well enough to be able to follow it.
I don't speak Spanish well enough to follow all of it, but I thoroughly enjoyed this. In addition, the bonus material before and after the production are illuminating and heartfelt. It was refreshing to see afrolatinidad acknowledged and embraced in this production.
