Low volume and mumbly mouthed
I don't HATE it. But the crappy recording emphasizes how ridiculously mumbly mouthed the speakers are (particulalry the high pitched women), which, while probably accurate in a real, mixed setting, does little to facilitate learning the language.

Don't be fooled by poor reviews
I've studied Russian for a year, and a major part of my studies has been listening. These recordings are not the best as if recorded in a studio, but I was able to understand everything said with the exceptions of a few words I didn't understand.
