Fun idea for a show but unfairly biased against perpetuates dangerous bias against holistic medicine
The show is entertaining & I believe that Dr. Sydney tries to present topics in a scientific way. The balance between medical topics & lighthearted humor is great. However, I’ve heard them mock many holistic therapies as “having no evidence”, when that is objectively not true. Just because a treatment doesn’t have a “gold-standard”, placebo controlled, double blind study available does not mean it lacks efficacy- it MIGHT. Or…it could mean there’s no money to be made by running an expensive trial. There are many treatment modalities that are used by MDs across the globe that Sydney treats with snark. While I agree that everyone should look critically at their healthcare choices & the evidence to support them, I fear that people listening to this podcast might close the door on effective treatment opportunities when they are ill if they believe every she says (or use her words to not support a family member or friend who is considering trying something outside the mainstream).
