Noriko Oka, a former Japanese exchange student who visited Cowra NSW when she was sixteen years old, translated Dr Anita Heiss' Australian novel ' Barbed Wire and Cherry Blossoms.' The Japanese version was made available last month to mark the 80th anniversary of the Cowra Breakout. - 日本人捕虜の脱走事件が起きたカウラ。事件当時を舞台にしたオーストラリアの小説「Barbed Wire and Cherry Blossoms(鉄条網と桜)」(アニタ・ヘイス博士著)が6月、カウラ事件から80年となるのを記念し、日本語に翻訳されました。翻訳者の岡紀子(おか・のりこ)さんにお話を聞きました。
