As one who began doing “music copying” as a teenager back in the early 1970s, I finally have found like-minded people who combine the pen & ink history and current digital technology into an informative and fascinating discussion. Thank you for giving us this deep-dive into notating music....Read full review »

This show has the perfect mix of humor and information. Phillip and David both have a great deal of knowledge of the software they discuss, and always have great suggestions on tricky topics. I highly recommend this to my students.

Music notation seems a topic for a small group of people, yet if we consider the large amount of people either composers, engravers and the performers; it becomes clear how useful it is. This podcast walks with me in my morning walks. Thank you, all the best from Portugal

OK, so I only wanted to make the clearest scores I could for the few musicians I play with, but got drawn in to listening to the experiences of people who prepare scores for a living. I have learnt a lot in doing so. Also I was keen to hear others’ experiences switching from Sibelius to Dorico...Read full review »

It’s great to be able to learn about these musical/technological concepts while driving or engaged in other work. I come away with a couple more ideas each episode to make my processes more efficient, learn about the industry more in general, and find out new tips and tricks.

Philip Rothman’s Scoring Notes website is a gem and his podcast is no different. The House Style Podcast was outstanding and looking forward to more!!

I’ve followed Philip Rothman’s posts long before he transitioned from Daniel Spreadbury’s Sibelius blog. Scoring Notes coverage of all things notation has been the greatest single resource for me personally and for my students. He and David MacDonald are “Scoring Hero’s.”

Nice variety of guests. Whether you’re more interested in the adjacent tech platforms, specific parts of the music industry and their relationship with engraving, or just good engraving, you’ll find a lot to like.

Like everything scoringnotes.com do this podcast is really great. You’ll get to listen to the main players building the main tools that will be available to us in the next decade and more. Highly recommended.

I had only just discovered the blog before I the podcast launched, and as a podcast fan, I was delighted. These are exactly my kind of people, and it’s awesome to hear people talk about stuff that they really know about that is exciting and relevant to me and my life!

Thanks, guys! I had to chuckle at all the mistakes that you mentioned. Like looking in a rear view mirror. This will help anyone clean up their act!
