Adds Wrinkles to My Smooth Brain
Imagine a less-funny Alan Alda gifted with such an encyclopedic breadth that he frequently corrects other savants on the minutiae of their chosen fields: I loled when this rabid atheist corrects a religious scholar with, “Job.” Dr. Carroll just knows so much and instantly grasps radically abstract concepts, often anticipating guests’ conclusions before their segues have left the station. Mindcast’s greatest downfalls are that 1. Sean often forgets podcasts are conversational, they’re not oral assignments, and 2. he often polices ideas to protect listeners from making wrong assumptions. Expressing incredulity at something you don’t believe is fine, but shutting down, say, Bostrum’s speculative tangent is criminal. What was he saying about NDEs as possible evidence for simulation hypothesis? We’ll never know. For the love of God (or no-God), when a guest goes into a Mentat trance please just loose the reigns and help us follow to THEIR conclusions! We’re gonna make our own assumptions about what emergence in complex systems or Many Worlds *means* either way, so just let them go. I’m addicted, and binge-listening to catch up as we speak. Seriously, Sean, please interview Alan Alda for the lulz and confusion. You sound just like him

Sound is too low. I need to listen on the maximum volume on an iPhone and still nit good enough in louder environment.
