“As an ex charismatic/evangelical, coming out of huge upheaval that caused me to re-examine what I have been taught in the past and believed to be true, I've struggled for about the past four years to read the Bible (or any other book devotionally)...hardly been able to do it because I kept being triggered by harm that came to me from 40 years of authoritarian teaching. This has brought me a lot of sadness and caused me to feel adrift, as I used to have an intimate personal devotional life with the Spirit's comfort and direction. Listening to Keith's podcasts and also reading his book Sola Mysterium have been eye opening, healing, and freeing me to return to a simple trust of the Spirit of God speaking to me in general, including as I read the Bible.
