GRAIN OF SALT
I've followed Mike for almost 6 years now. He is definitely a leader, a mover, and a shaker. I appreciate his success and what he brings to the table as far as his perspective. The first few podcasts start off as this quest for knowledge, he's on an adventure and you're going to embark on it with him. It's all rah rah! I'm here asking the questions you need answered! And there are a lot of people I have never heard of, which is an incredible accomplishment because I am a leadership podcast junky. So it was fun... for a while. But then it transitioned to Mike, unfortunately, trying to validate himself and his accomplishments to his interviewees. I've heard Mike's life story NUMEROUS times because he feels he has to let the leader/entrepreneur know what he's done with his life. But it's not about you, Mike. You say it's about us, but every interview always falls back on you and what you've built. Again, you can edit those parts of the talk out to save the listener. Also, I've found that about 1 in 4 podcasts are worth "saving" in the podcast app to listen to at a later time. Then the podcast theme completely changed and no longer became about the listener at all. For the past 2 months it's been Mike asking questions ONLY about his hydroponics business. We get it Mike. This is the biggest thing you've ever done. But you can try to ask questions that aren't only going to directly help you and you alone. Besides all of that there is the very glaring double introduction on EVERY podcast, by that I mean he spends the first 3 to 5 minutes with a monologue, which was recorded after the interview, describing in detail the background of the person that is going to be interviewed, where they came from, what they built, why they're the stuff. Then he cuts into the interview and says EVERYTHING all over again to the person, telling them they're the stuff to their face, but unfortunatley this is a direct repeat of information and complete waste of air space. It's fine to say it to build the person up, but edit it out so I'm not listening to every accomplishment the interviewee has ever done, twice... again... did I repeat myself enough times? Listen, but with a grain of salt on a bunch of the podcasts.Read full review »
