A brilliant curation of the best audio documentaries out there. Recent highlights include Rory Stewart on the importance of argument and Shaun Keaveny on the Phoebus Cartel, planned obsolescence and its impact on the environment. Both entertaining and enlightening. The BBC at its best.

The show is well paced, brilliantly produced and presented in a jovial, charming and lighthearted way. My only issue with it, and this is obviously entirely personal; that being, the purely materialist exploration of these psychologies. There is an undeniable factor that alongside cultural and...Read full review »

Dear Baroness, I cannot tell you how your review of the London Met Police changed my life, as I was arrested twice in my own home for harassing a pc I’ve never met. She was assigned to a burglary of £1mm from my home in 2020, and I named the names who did it. Two of them live on my street in...Read full review »

I have just come across this podcast and looking forward to listening to the vast back catalogue of some great topics, but have found they have published only the first episode of many multi-part series. Am I missing something????

Once the folks at Cardiff Pride started speaking, the tears flowed! “I’m proud on the inside” - the most beautiful statement I have ever heard. Thank you!

Clear audio, great topics, the host’s have an air of playfulness about them that lightens the way. Really enjoying it :)

Dear god, were the presenters meant to be making a parody of sixth form school radio?

How utterly boring. Episode one lasted about two minutes before I switched it off.
RowFitzs00000 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 08/23/23
Quite a good podcast, but the producers have a habit of making a ‘part one’ and then the part two never materialises.

Same information gone over again and again. First by over articulating and slow speaking host then by the subject. Cult program is 8 parts! They don’t even follow each other and by the time the next one arrives I’ve lost interest. I’m unsubscribing.

This is a mixed selection. Some I like, some not. Unfortunately the presenter Rhianna Dhillon has returned. All I want is a simple announcement and a warning if necessary for language, etc. I do not need Ms Dhillon’s vacuous comments. Who does she think she is? Vanessa Kisuule’s pre-recorded...Read full review »

Could have been so good, but generally poorly informed, partisan, sensationalist and agenda-driven. Occasionally sinisterly disinformative.

Awesome podcast. Look forward to more. Wonder what the forest is saying when I’m grinding down mixed conifers and hardwoods in northern Ontario. What kind of communication are they using and what are they trying to say to each other ? Hmmmmmm. 👍🏼

Loved the insights into the culture of medal awards in the British Army : didn’t know the Military Cross encouraged violence and was directed at conduct in violent situations but didn’t recognise building a school or something. Now we know how to defend against a committed enemy.

Each episode title has me guessing. Then I read the description and think that does sound interesting. Give it a go and it never fails to be SERIOUSLY GOOD. Thank you Vanessa for presenting great stories over and over!

Annoying as topics are great but the audio is speed up stops me from listening and enjoy the podcast

Fascinating stories. So much research has gone into them by people that know: Philippe Sands on The Ratline and Carrie Gracie on Murder in the Lucky Holiday Hotel. I binge-listen in the cat, while sewing or knitting!! Much better than binge-watching tv series.

I’ve enjoyed this podcast for years- there’ve been many fascinating and insightful discussions of all kinds of intriguing ideas. Recently they’ve become obsessed with the woke agenda (like so much BBC content) which has skewed the breadth of topics in favour of a narrow collection of familiar...Read full review »

If this series didn’t arrogantly introduce itself as “The most interesting thing you’ll hear today” I might be slightly less disappointed in it, and whilst the content is usually good, the production style is pretty formulaic, the perspective is usually standard BBC left-leaning and there aren’t...Read full review »

Anyone with a strong regional accent makes adjustments when they are out of home. Sad to hear so many people in this podcast urging POC to “be themselves” and not make themselves easier to be understood- and blaming everyone else’s racism. The series should be renamed “Seriously woke” - so many...Read full review »

Shame Kirsty Logan chose to lift and then deny lifting her ghost series idea from the author Roger Clarke. Makes you wonder what else is theft on here.

Just listened to the episode Girl Power... RIP. Just nostalgia for nineties feminism with all its “Lean In”, capitalist and postfeminist attitudes. You would have to be a raging Tory and white feminist to think this was a hot take.

This account of the "purity spiral" is a seductive subterfuge. Two plausible stories of people going to far is linked to some right wing "philosophy." It does not say so clearly, but it cleverly leads the reader or listener to accept the "purity spiral" as a problem...Read full review »

In general, a surprising podcast with great, diverse material. There are only two weaknesses to the program: (1) The host--who never speaks for more than 45 seconds--is infuriatingly banal. Don't let her ruin the podcast for you. (2) Some episodes are bad. They are few and you know them...Read full review »

This five part series on Putin’s Rasputin appeared to be promising - well researched and delivered. However, whoever did the sound effects ruined this show with a meaningless buzz sounds that kept interrupting the narration and became too annoying to concentrate on the content.

Like the content very much. But have to agree that the introduction from Rihanna dhiillon is massively irritating and typically of no value. I always feel hectored and patronised by the over emphatic articulation. I’m sure the bbc can do better. I quite liked Femi Martin

This comment on the likely appeal v lack of appeal of Lee Lozano’s untitled 1963, the still life of a hammer, is a little unfair, as is the comment that middle class people don’t want this kind of thing in the living room.
