NOTE: audio is poor for the first 32 seconds. There are a lot of “things” that weigh us down in our modern Christian walk with God. In this sermon we look at the burdens faced with our brethren from centuries past and how they were able to “throw off” those burdens so they could, by faith, excel in life and death. Most importantly, we’ll make the connection in how we can do the same today.

God has given us the gift of who to love and how to love. While that choice is ours to make (and He teaches us who/how to love… like Him), there are many other factors that are beyond our control. In the end, however, we will wait on the Lord for the ultimate reaping for sowing love in our lives.

What if you could be part of a utopic community where there was no sense of inequality? The year of Jubilee ushered in a type of hope for those who got the “short end of the stick”. This is the type of community realized in Christ today!

When the Lord’s church was established there was a dynamic shift in how the community of God’s people treated one another. They were fully devoted to “the church”…. and it showed! Though our circumstances are different today we should also be just as devoted to the church as our first-century brethren.

Christians are humans who live in this world and because of it, live life, not unlike all other humans. Yet, Christians – who follow Jesus – are “not of the world” and for this reason stand out from all other humans. The question is, how… especially when Christians can be guilty of making man-made laws to create distinctions God doesn’t? NOTE: Audio is not ideal until the 19:30 mark. Sorry for the inconvenience.

God made us – from the beginning – to bear His image by “bearing good fruit”. Rather than have Christians define what a faithful disciple looks like we look at the scriptures and see what a faithful (and unfaithful) Christian looks like. BTW – I deleted this morning’s live stream as the audio in that stream did not publish well on facebook.

The road to redemption – as seen in the parable of the prodigal son – is typically viewed with a lost (unsaved) soul. Instead, it has everything to do with a child of God who has gone prodigal (left God), then returned to Him. This is section of the parable is a message of hope (Luke 15:11-24) to God’s lost children (who are likened to the “sinners and tax collectors” to whom Jesus shared this parable).

One of the things I continue to learn in martial arts is WHO to fight, WHEN to fight, and HOW to fight. This is also true in life. Unfortunately, many professing Christianity fight the wrong enemy, put on the wrong armor, and don’t know how to use their weapons or use it economically. It’s time we learn how to fight the good fight of faith.
