AMAZING
Let me start off by saying that I'm a 100% sane human being, nonviolent, would never kill anyone. Buuuuut I'm obsessed with murder. I used to religiously watch reruns of Forensic Files until my mom found out and thought it was too inappropriate (I was 12 years old). I used to check out books on Jeffrey Dahmer from the library until my dad found out and said THAT was too inappropriate (also was 12 or maybe 13). Basically I have a problem. I finished listening to Adnan Syed's case on Serial just this last week (I know, super late to the party, whoops). I can't really get myself to care about the second season of Serial, though, it's about some military dude who might have deserted his post on purpose and joined the other side. Kind of sounds like the first season of Homeland (or maybe Homeland was based on this). Anyway, I digress. I looked for other pocasts on the topic of murder and true crime and found this. I was iffy because it's very new and had next to no reviews but I listened anyway and it's amazing! These guys are so hilarious when they talk; not just mundane, unfunny commentary like you get on My Favorite Murder, but just truly laugh-out-loud-on-a-public-train funny. They also tie in demographic information of the towns to the crime which I think is cool, because these are small towns that I didn't know existed. This podcast is not at all like Serial. They are not reporting on anything, they don't talk to people involved in the cases like the family of the victim or perp or law enforcement. It's like hey here's this town, here's what it's about, here's the crime and here's what happened. One murder per episode and as of right now there are 3 episodes but I think it's a weekly podcast. It's between 40 minutes to an hour per episode. Sorry for the dissertation; I, too, talk a lot - I should have my own podcast, tbh. Give it a listen! I really think it could become more popular than My Favorite Murder (which I find insufferable lol they are so annoying).Read full review »
