Unrealized Potential
Such a great idea for a podcast, but the execution suffers a bit. The guests are interesting, but sometimes it feels a little like they are being interviewed by high school students. Don't like the hosts. Let me give you just one example. One thing that the hosts tend to do is talk a bunch of crap about certain guests before and after the interview. I feel like if they disagree with their guests on some points, they should grow a pair and challenge them DURING the interview when the guest has an opportunity to respond. This is starting to be a recurring theme with this podcast, and it drives me up the wall, regardless of whether I agree with the guest or not. It would be so much more interesting to hear a debate about the issues at hand between the hosts and their guests, rather than hearing a one-sided rant at the end of an interview, to which the guest is not given an opportunity to respond. In a recent episode, one of the hosts even went so far as to acknowledge that he was "ranting" about his guest, and justified it by saying something to the effect of "it's my podcast, so I can do what I want.” This is perfectly true, but keep in mind that people don't have to listen and likely won't if the hosts continue to act like tools and disrespect their guests without giving them a chance to respond. Anyway, I keep listening and hoping that with experience, the hosts will become more professional and better interviewers, but so far disappointed.Read full review »
