Lost its Lustre
I used to eagerly anticipate each new episode as a bright ending to my Mondays. What has changed? Where's the joy? Where's the light-heartedness? It seems the hosts have drifted from caring about the interests of their fans and listeners, turning the show into a self-indulgent platform. For months, Jason hasn't genuinely engaged with guests; instead, he prompts them and then proceeds to speculate and fill in their potential responses with lengthy, wandering hypotheses. This often leaves the guests bewildered and agreeing with his monologues - just to make it stop - which usually revolve around his own interests, like the number of cameras used in a specific shot. Poor Will seems to have lost his touch as well. His "questions" come across as a mismatched blend of a clichéd self-help book, a word-of-the-day calendar, and outdated 1990s Sports Center commentary. Tired of hearing "storyteller"? We're tired of "right-sized." Fortunately, Sean manages to salvage the episodes with his questions, which the others often mock. But at least he's asking genuine questions. What happened to the times when we could simply enjoy a good laugh over Sean's made-up adventures to the Cheeto factory? The once captivating chemistry and magic of the best podcast has hit a significant slump.Read full review »
